The BC Métis Federation has proudly created this Michif-French curriculum to enable everyone—students, teachers, parents, and independent learners—to learn Michif-French in a fun and engaging way. All curriculum materials, including interactive workbooks, are available for free.
The Michif-French "Language Through Stories" workbook for Kindergarten to Grade 6 has been designed to provide dynamic and inspirational curriculum learning. It inspires learners through short stories, and motivates them through relationship modelling of ancestral pride and communication in their daily lives. It's appropriate for individuals, groups, community and formal instructional institutes. Download the curriculum for free below.
Speak Michif Together – Parl Michif Aansaamb is a set of materials meant to support learning of Michif-French for Grades 7-12, or for community usage. The curriculum has been designed using two language learning frameworks sequentially: Total Physical Response (TPR), and Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling (TPRS). Learners acquire some basic Michif-French vocabulary through TPR to start, and then they scaffold that knowledge in TPRS lessons which use Métis storytelling traditions. Download the curriculum for free below.
